I realise I’ve been posting like crazy recently. Consider this compensation for the dry spells……or should that be wet spells? Damn, I’m all confused now😂

Indeed! Yet they buy cheap junk from far-flung lands, use AI for every little thing, need new e- gadgets once a week... All of That has zero effect on the environment 😁

Just started teaching back then. We could take our classes out on the field to enjoy the sun without a full risk assessment and letters home to parents.

Someone said that on fb yesterday, that they remember being taught outside when the weather was nice. Those were the days!

You have such a way with words - I love it.

I was 8 in 76 - all I remember is that it was so hot the tarmac on the playground got sticky and our marbles got stuck 😂 . There were standpipes in some places I believe but hey we came through it !

I remember the roads melting ! And it must’ve happened before ‘76 as well because I think I might’ve been a little bit old for messing with tar bubbles and getting into trouble for getting it on my clothes 🤣 Hot summers were normal back then , running around barefoot, wax crayons melting, back peeling

I know. A bit of common sense is all that need be applied. What is it Peter Kay says “Have a Solero and shut the fuck up”😂

It’s only 32* degrees out here in Thailand

Funny AF, as per. It is only a matter of time before we see an article with someone blaming the fact they were caught viewing indecent images on climate change.

Julie Dee's avatar

True. Yes they really did excel themselves with they plumped for climate change as a control mechanism. Definitely a catch-all.

Well, thank goodness the warm spell is over and they can go back to scaring us about other stuff. I was getting bored of folk posting their pics of drying reservoirs like it was Ethiopia in 1984.

I remember being a child playing outside and it was never this hot. I’ve never been one to lay in the sun to get a tan. People love to be tanned but I’m so light, forget it…Anyhow, who likes to have leather skin?!…

I have fair skin too so I relate.

I don’t want to be out in it all the time but I very much resent being lectured by the media about what’s ‘best for me’.

You’re not kidding, it’s the same here every summer. It’s nutty when they say to conserve water. Like we’re not going to water our gardens. They should say an old saying from my hippie days,”Save water, shower with a friend!” 😹

Yes, always loved running & general fitness. Racket sports not so much - I have zero hand eye coordination. Was crap at hockey if tackled but made the team as I could outrun everyone. :)

Great rant! Ah ! Those were the days when we could sweat and bitch about the sweltering heat without having to feel guilt ( Aaaaargh! We did this! To our selves! Bad Human!) or panic ( Aargh! Global Roasting! We're All Doomed! )

Good point. Yes now poor kids are conditioned to think they caused it all.

I just had a huge showdown with my kids - because they think that I caused it all because, you know, 🛢️ and the 🚗. 🧐

I was 9 in 1976 & on a Brownie camp - the theme was the Olympics so we did lots of races & sports - miraculously we all survived - & without drinking gallons of water!

I must confess that I’m a selfish risk taking bastard, imagine paying for water then being told that you can’t use it, even worse, those idiots that are complying fucking fucktards !

I don’t mind if companies themselves are making the effort - reservoirs being built and the like, but that’s not what I see happening.
