Not so much because I needed to catch the bus to the place I was trying to get to. My latest piece is about that place - Lulworth Cove. It was beautiful.❤️
It sounds like you are having an amazingly nice shirt get-away! I look forward to reading about Luworth Cove. The name alonec envokes enigmatic wonder. 💭😍
Love this! I love all things kitsch and quirky and would have been drawn to a dinosaur themed anything! Brilliant, Julie, how you brought this place to life.💕
An Englishwoman's way of speaking, absolutely classifies her, the moment she open's her mouth, she makes some other Englishwoman despise her. (with apologies to Prof. Henry Higgins)
It’s a subtle difference I think. As a newcomer I was more aware of it. If I watch Coronation Street I can always tell which actors are from Yorkshire.
Lovely bite size piece of travel writing and I’m glad you got some Julie time whilst the weather was good. My brother used to live near Wool (Chalden Herring) so I’ve walked and biked to Lulworth Cove a few times from there. Monkey World is nearby. I don’t like zoos but I could kind of get along with Monkey World because they were all rescue apes who were now living a better life than before.
Cheers :) Yes before half term this week Yes, I’ve heard of that Monkey World. I’ve been to the one (different operators I think) near Looe in Cornwall. I just remember them saying “don’t look the male monkeys in the eye” and you know when someone says that so you become hyper aware of it 😂😂
Loved this! Your sense of humor abounded. My ancestry is a mix of Scottish and English, so I enjoyed the references to regional differences. Fun read, thank you!
Thanks. Yes my ancestry is just English and Welsh and funnily enough, my mum thinks ‘The Welsh’ don’t like us either, even though she IS half welsh, bless her😂😂
Yes the UK is great for accents. One of my favourite things about it ,actually.
Definitely! My favourite book is The Good Companions by JB Priestley and that is a story of human encounters 'on the road' - they make the best stories and the best memories.
It was the first time I’d been there. It’s in Dorset. Missed the bus I actually wanted to get (to Lulworth Cove) so just thought, fuck it, will just get on this one and go somewhere else for a bit first 😂 It was all new to me.
Yes I remember years ago on the Isle of Wight having to completely distort my accent just to be understood by the barmaid.😂😂
Yes that’s the place. I missed the turn at Wool down to Lulworth but got there eventually. Tip to travellers - don’t go to Lulworth at the weekend or during the holidays. Nightmare when is rammed.
You probably don’t feel it but I think it’s really brave to go adventuring by yourself.
My favourite trips are those by myself. You can just do what you want when you want. True freedom. Yeah I went down there mid week last week. Deliberately chose to go on a week day non school hols for those reasons, didn’t want to see it rammed. Was quiet when I arrived but even then it got busy as it got towards lunch time.
This is the sort of article that puts a smile on my face. I'm still smiling as I type this.
Brilliant stuff!
Glad it raised a smile :)
I gravitate towards eclectic funky places Julie! What a perfect find on your trip! Were you able to explore the town a bit? 😍😍😍

Thanks. I love quirkiness. Give me a Fawlty Towers over a Four Seasons any day 😂
Haha - they always have better stories to tell

Indeed😂
Wool is just down the road from me!
A really nice part of the world there too, no urgency, polite locals etc.
I’m glad you saw the southern Delight of Dorset!
Could’ve gotten popped in and sat on your armchair, mate😂😂
Is that where you’re from then? Or did you move there?
I dont leave my house if my armchair isn’t welcome too! 😂
I’m only in Southampton… it’s about 30-40 mins from there
Ah yeah I very briefly lived in Bassett
Very posh! 😂
Bassett/ chilworth is nice though. You were in upper southampton haha
Of course…..then I moved to Gosport. Rougher than a robber’s dog 😂
Ooofff going from Bassett to Gospit must have been a rude awakening!
I can’t slag it off too much… I’m in thornhill 😅😂
At least my geography's correct! I knew where Hebden Bridge is. But I can't tell the difference between a Yorkshire and Lancashire accent!
It’s a subtle difference I think. As a newcomer I was more aware of it. If I watch Coronation Street I can always tell which actors are from Yorkshire.
I always thought you were from Yorkshire!
I am from Lancashire but I now live in Yorkshire (since 2005).

Thank you Julie, such a strange little place but very friendly. Loved this story…
Thank you. A bit of a non event but it made me smile all the same :)
You really do have the ability to make me feel the experience. Loved this!
Thank you. It’s just a little slice of life I suppose, but it will stay with me. :)
Love it 😊
Thanks
Adventure is great, and it's good to enjoy your self,as you do Julie 😊 x.
Thanks. It was only a cafe but it made me smile because of its quirks :)
Aww, I love eccentric things like that too 🙌🏻
Makes a trip doesn’t it? 😊
Definitely! My favourite book is The Good Companions by JB Priestley and that is a story of human encounters 'on the road' - they make the best stories and the best memories.
Yes I’ve read it. It’s an excellent book, I agree. All
About the musicians/actors coming together and touring.
Ah julie..
This skotch liked you 🥰
Likes even 🙄
