The phrase 'triggered' really really irritates me and is a much over-used expression recently.

'I'm just reaching out...' is another one which winds me up. Amy emails I receive which start with that instantly get deleted without being read.

But yes, I agree - another example of how the nanny state has encouraged lack of personal responsibility.

Yes ‘reaching out’ is 🤮 I agree.

I hate ‘sign posting’ which when you are trying to get help is usually bollockspeak for ‘fobbing you off’.

As in “I’m going to signpost you to my colleague” 🤮

So many sheeple have lost their way, so full of themselves devoid of humour/personally woke sensative little scared rabbits. Thank god I don't have to mix with them.

Yep, 'signposting' is another one. Oh, and when they open an email with 'Hey!'

I actually had someone do that this week who wanted a job. The next sentence was 'Let me tell you a bit about myself'.

Wtf are they teaching them?!

I think if you want a job anywhere you would surely look at the culture of that organisation/business and tailor your words accordingly whilst retaining originality.

And this approach is obviously how I became CEO of Amazon 😂😂😂

Not a bad thing to call out! Be true to your own standards, have a big purpose, accept someone somewhere will always find a dig at you .. I shrug my shoulders and move on - snowflakes!!

‘Triggered’ is a word that was not in our vocabulary. It’s a shame it didn’t stay that way. It shows the state of the nation when people are checking to see if they might be triggered. The same people are looking to see if someone else’s freedom of speech might offend them. Yes Julie, they all need to just fuck off.

If it hadn’t been ‘triggered’ it would have been something else. There are all sorts of wet phrases popping up designed to seed the ‘poor me’ culture that feeds the flourishing mental health industry.

Totally agree, it's a word I have noticed being used more and more. Reading the comments I have just noticed another '... just reaching out' , ergh! It all appears to me to be attempting to outsource our own feelings onto others. You are correct, if I am having difficulty with something said or that I see, it is my chance to inward at myself and ask why not to try to censor an other.

Good sense Julie! For some people - myself included - triggers lie in wait all day every day. It wouldn't occur to me to think that the problem lies outside my own mind. You just can't insulate yourself from everything that makes you sad or upset. Turning the problem inside out and medicalising us all doesn't help us. Other than trying not to deliberately hurt people's feelings, I don't think there's a lot else we can do.

Yes. I think it’s different with kids, we have to look out for them but adults must grow in self awareness and seek to spot and mitigate their own triggers.

Hear hear. I strongly suspected you’d make an Only Fools and Horses reference at some point as soon as I started reading this, and I wasn’t disappointed.

😂😂😂😂

That’s made me laugh.

They were all coming into my head. Every cliché you could think of. ‘smoking gun’, ‘rubber bullets’, ‘firing blanks’…. I had to be very selective with my imagery, it was a kid’s toyshop this one😂😂

Lol, this made me chuckle…..“We are seeing ordinary people policing each other like naff plastic plods.” I love that phrase, it’s a fabulous description of what goes on. An honest and heartwarming read for folk like us. And yes, those who can’t see
