Whilst I’m in this mood, I’ve just been through some more ‘subscribers’ and unsubscribed a few more. Felt good! I’m not into vanity stats. Why the hell would I want subscribers who ignore me?

Don’t do me any favours by being here - that goes for anyone reading this too.

If you have a substack, I urge you to do the same. You deserve for people to anticipate you like a kid for Santa, not a Jehovah’s Witness at the fucking door.

I just put stuff out there in case it helps ppl - you never know what someone is going thru or how they might be drawn into your stuff which may help them - the world is a big pool and my stuff is here for everyone, I'm not creating material for myself, just musing on modern life and how we cope with it

If I sold a magazine, I'd never know who the readers are, best to them - we just have a different approach, that's all

Agree, I feel I have been the support act most of my life really. That's not to say I haven't done my own thing in my own way but a lot of the time I have 'looked after' people who would never look after me in the same way.

Same. The programme really made me think actually. About just going for it with whatever. And raising yourself.

Not waiting for scraps that may or not come from others.

Totally, I guess one of the positives from Convid is it showed us all truths about ourselves as well as others :)

It’s almost 3am. I’ve given up the attempt to sleep for now and thought I’d read for a while with a cup of something or other with camomile in it. I’ve found your post; what an interesting thought process was born from watching that tv programme…..how that phrase resonated. It would probably have washed over most of us but you have that insight. In a way, I’m now in the process of ‘ditching the downers’ but it’s not people but the ‘stuff’ in my life I lived with because someone else wanted it. Colour is one. My current home is decorated in muted tones and blues, masculine colours. My new home is going to be full of vibrant colours.

That makes me so excited for you. Your new start. Yes I did that a few years ago actually. My house used to be neutrals, ‘made the most of space’ then one day I painted the living room orange the bedroom red and the kitchen turquoise. It felt like opening a box of jewels and I have never regretted that. I’m sure you will make it amazing- a place that truly reflects you x

Thank you so much. It is really exciting. That’s exactly how I imagined your house to be by the way. Simply impossible to imagine you in neutral tones! X

We all need to feel appreciated and seen, there’s nothing worse than feeling invisible and like an option...

I have so much patience….and then it’s gone. We can’t look for others to raise us, we must raise ourselves. X
