“Everyone in the family clearly lived on whatever one could pummel with a pestle and mortar, eating ‘local produce, seasonally’ - nettle pesto galore” - Wonderful satire in this essay and so much more: a true heart that knows which way is north. I laughed, I nodded, I cheered.

Oh that means a lot Tara.

It kind of found its way organically, this one. Started off wanting to go in with humour because it was a situation just begging to have the piss taken out of it, the way I saw it, but then I thought, “actually there’s a serious and worthwhile message in here somewhere” and figured that maybe by using humour as a way in to something more meaningful, it could then create greater ripples than being merely entertaining, that it could then transcend what it originally set out to be and be more powerful in its entirety.

(If that doesn’t sound too pretentious 😂😂)

“Go invest in something old school.

That’s right, a REAL PERSON.”

I love how you reframed influencer. Really enjoyed reading this, and it sums up what I subconsciously knew about influencers in one nice word packet, good stuff.

I appreciate your comment, Tim.

Yes, I don’t do fake. :)

Ordinary is where it’s at. Way more accessible and inspiring!

Funny. These commercial influencers are one part of this screwed up world which I’ve managed to avoid.

‘Influencer.’ It’s not my favourite word. In fact I despise it. It implies that there’s an army of people who simply can’t think, decide or act for themselves. Whilst I’m sure there many influencers who don’t call themselves ‘influencers,’ I am assured that there are many that wear the job title with gushing pride. So narcissistic are they, they believe themselves to be the go-to Pied Piper of the 21st century.

And you know what? The world has been dumbed down so much the past 2 decades that it’s really no surprise people have been ‘influenced’ so easily. I think the elites were just waiting for the dawn of that moment, the juxtaposition of internet, mobile technology, vacuous tv shows, social media, and thereby trial by social media has led us to this point. You e just got to look at the last 4 years to realise how pliable and malleable the masses have become.

Sadly I think the targets actually believe this themselves. So it’s capitalising on that feeling of needing a leader, needing guidance. Plenty of pied pipers around to cash in on your insecurities and weaknesses if you go looking.

Awww bless ya, I’ll bet you do too.❤️

Well earned though eh?

Always be wary of people on social media who just want to show you the highlights, the best bits all the time. Everyone has more going on than they let on.

One of the good things about being frank on here and Facebook is that people don’t feel they have to spin me a sack of shit when they see me in person. They feel they can let their guard down, open up and be normal and I like that.

There’s too much fake bullshit around and I ain’t for selling it on my stall😂😂

Invest in yourself and those who mean most to you. 🔥
