That phrase ‘school ready’ has always grated on me. This idea that children should meet the needs of the school rather than the school meet those of the child.
Ooh I’ve been missing your comments Viv, you always offer something to think about.
On a slightly different note, that makes me think of people when given heart and other transplants and sometimes they report on feeling different, maybe a bit like someone else. The ‘old’ person. Definitely a lot to think about.
Then there’s skin and other cells. Constantly shedding and renewing themselves. Not what we’re born with which is why I have always found teeth interesting because they’ve been with us in the same form for a very long time.
Oh I have worked doing insurance claims Viv. When I lived in Bristol. Not travel but creditor (mortgage, loans etc) and house insurance too.
There are interesting aspects to insurance claims, certainly. I remember a big to do that hinged upon whether something was ‘careless’ or ‘reckless’.
And because I dealt with people trying to claim because they were off work sick (to get their mortgage paid by the cover), I learned a lot about the human body too, we had a doctor who came in once a week for tricky ones we weren’t sure of.
I hope you’re enjoying it and it’s not mangling your brain too much!
School it’s a case of ‘suck it and see’, it’s the only school that said they could meet need so I have little choice but to see how it goes. He has been on a transition session and says he likes it so that is positive.
Well, that nearly had me in tears!
"The sea must get ready for me"
Damn right!

Of course you are. He’s lucky to have you! 😂
I think you would be a beautiful safe harbor. It's a lovely short story, it gave me goosebumps on the last line, ace...
Thank you Peter. I think to flourish we need both things, don’t we?
A safe harbour and the pull of an exciting, unpredictable sea.
Oh Julie. He does. I know he does and with all my heart I hope your little boat finds his safe harbour.
I like to think I am that harbour, or at least a bit of a scabby pier😂😂
Nar not scabby pier, you would be the best, I bet... 😉
A lovely article Julie. One that really resonates in the times we live in.
Thank you x

And what a tangent that has sent me off on….😂😂

Yes some of the stories are fascinating. House insurance I found dull in comparison to creditor.
Glad you are enjoying it and that others are benefitting from your agile brain.
