Probably so. I trust none of em. They are business men at the end of the day and their prerogative is lining their own pockets and getting deals/contracts for their mate.
Farage has been a political distraction and psyop for every party that has ever wanted to win the leadership . He will take the highest bid from who ever pays including political leaders from other countries 🙄
My dad died 32 yrs ago , from a young age he wouldnt let me watch the news ( I did as I got political in my teens ) , he told me the only thing that was truthful on a newspaper was the price, they'd even been known to get the date wrong . As far as politics were concerned there was really only 2 parties as a kid , he referred to them as 2 cheeks on the same arse and the same shit came out of the hole 😆 🤣 .His other phrase was " cunts , counts the lot of them! " 😆
During the miners strike ( I'm a donny lass so our community was deeply effected having 3 major collieries in our town and other close by ) he nearly got beaten for calling out Scargill saying he would turn on his men . And he did as the saying goes " he started the strike with a big union and a small house, and ended it with a big house and a small union”. Find me a politician in history that at some point like scargill forgets the starving people and allows their ego and self preservation to step in ...... until we learn once again to commune in unity and come together without any idols or saviours we will always give our power away .
The only democracy in this country is the pseudo democracy that they allow us to vote for the politicians to take our sovereignty and power away
Not only are the politicians puppets, they are a lot dumber than some people think.
Starmer is very much the puppet who will tell you about a beautiful sunset and why we need to support mass murder with the same dead eyed stare. If the rumours are true he probably does have a hand up….
Absolutely spot-on with the muppet metaphor. The wholeJim Henson Company angle clicks in ways most political commentary misses. Once you see that left and right are both manufactured by the same interests, it's tough to unsee. I remmeber when lockdowns hit and both sides were lockstep on the same authoritarian nonsense. Way scarier than the surface-level theater they perform.
That was the point at which so many of us ‘got it’, was too obvious. Politicians were doing sod all, all wanted the same thing, it went unchallenged. That was when I knew I’d never vote again, that there was no meaningful opposition.
I’m unsure if this means you liked the post or you didn’t. I am however certain you didn’t like Sesame Street/The Muppet Show….so that’s something 😉🤷♀️😂
This is quite brilliant Julie, possibly your best piece yet. It is really thought-provoking, so much so that I have read it twice to make sure I've picked up even a few of its many nuances.
You mention the Dark Crystal movie which I watched in a cinema decades ago with at least one of my three offspring. I seem to remember that towards the end of this film the two parts of whatever species was involved came together into a single entity. Somehow this unification resolved whatever problem each of the two parts could not solve alone. If I can find it I will watch the Dark Crystal again to make sure I have this right.
Be that as it may, it makes me realise that most people want essentially the same thing. I don't think it really matters if they are Conservative or Labour supporters, or on what side of the covid question they stand. We all just want to live our lives in peace and reasonabe comfort.
There are, however, a tiny handful of 'demons' who want something else. They delight in setting each side against the other in order to distract us from them and their agenda. They are misled. They are wrong. They will not achieve their goal.
These are a few of the thoughts suggested by your great insights! Thanks.
I had mixed feelings about Muppets. The show was on when I had to leave for boarding school. Yet it was funny.
Though I detest The Love Boat for the same leaving home reason and its saccharine Tom foolery and dubbed laugh track gave it no saving throw.
Sesame Street wasn't quite a staple of my younger years. I was more the era of Picture Box, Mr Benn, Playschool, Crystal Tips and Alistair, Rainbow even. But I did love the trippy pinball sequence and Mr Hooper. That was hard, Mr Hooper; how do you deal with death? It was a revolutionary show.
I don't subscribe to global conspiracy theories and tin foil hattery. I get the idea that the dark forces that have dissolved the political party player distinctions is just an idea or concept that's without physical form and has agency only through the mind of the self-interested individual. At the moment the ambition is self destructive and manifests as infighting, with occasional coalescence that gives one party more traction. If it ever evolves (and I'm talking genuine scientific use of meme here) then that meme will fracture society completely.
But I do wonder if the conspiracy theories are being pumped out somewhere to divide society along lines of the paranoid and the perspectivist. Could fake global conspiracy theories be themselves an orchestrated conspiracy?
Re conspiracy theories, thing is, many so called ‘conspiracy theories’ have proven real over the last few years. That said, I think you could easily get sucked into every rabbit hole and many of the things are irrelevant or unprovable. I also think there are many faked conspiracy theories as you allude to, deliberately circulated to get people off the scent of the actuality.
Ultimately, the only thing I trust is myself and want no-one representing me.
But you can see how Road Runner v. Coyote, Tom v. Jerry, God v. Satan, Chomsky v. Foucault, Cheerios v. Lucky Strikes, Lucky Charms v. Marlboro, Batman v. Godzilla v. Conservatives v. Liberals v. Devil(ed) Eggs v. Angel Food cake v. hanging oneself in the closet v. adopting a stray animal.
So is it really a real wonder we are here where we are?
And then maybe later we can talk about Santa Claus v. some fiery-eyed Satanic and weaponized godless demon Terminator-esque sort of figure currently banging on the passenger-side window of my wife's minivan whilst I'm shitting thin gruel on the wonderfully heated front seat.
Plus you must remember all those super-smart cartoon rabbits, road runners, dinosaurs & crows (w/ big noses), and so too, that extra-special reindeer w/ the pronounced nose which (you may have guessed) may have meant more than you'd previously considered. We pause here for the slower absorption of nuance.
So let's may face the truth of it all here and now my people. From the now well-preserved historical indictments against one "Mr. McGregor" caught red-handed in (unbelievably) a cabbage patch, to the persistent violence perpetrated by one Elmer P. Fudd, ladies and gentlemen, I give you the radiance of the Illuminati now.
Anyway, you can see these are exceptionally intelligent Rabbits perpetually strategizing from the disposition of a constant "fight or flight" mode of existence with the natural impetus of out-manoeuvring those (e.g., Mr. McGregor, Elmer P. Fudd, et al) who want to kill them. They therefore have to always and already be smarter than their adversaries who have apparently every right to kill them.
Not sure this is a contemporary circumstance to consider or not.
the constant potential for and eternal contention btw ever-present scenarios of life and death.
I have droned on for ever that Farage is a Pied Piper, leading everyone down a dead end. Who is paying the Piper 🤔
Kier Stalin is being paid by the CCP for sure - that ginormous 'Embassy (Spy HQ)' which has been waved along...
Dozens, if not hundreds, of MPs are being paid by various interest groups to support and promote their agendas...
I reckon Qatar is behind Reform - they are behind everything...
Probably so. I trust none of em. They are business men at the end of the day and their prerogative is lining their own pockets and getting deals/contracts for their mate.
Agree..
None
Farage has been a political distraction and psyop for every party that has ever wanted to win the leadership . He will take the highest bid from who ever pays including political leaders from other countries 🙄
He is first and foremost a business man. If applied correctly it could serve the country well but I think he is all about himself tbh.
Totally first and foremost he is for himself sadly , even when he appears altruistic it soon becomes apparent it is about his limelight
I am sick of the puppet show.It don't make any sense of voting for a puppet of billionaires who want us dead. Thanks Julie reality bites.😊 x.
Cheers. I trust none of them. Nothing changes. The entire system needs an overhaul.

Indeed, Jane. Your dad sounds like he knew what he was talking about
All wolves dressed as different sheep!
The comparison between politics & Jim hensons creations is also spot on. Quality read 🤌🏼
Cheers :)
This is my dream. I don't know why it didn't attach to my last comment.
I see :)
Julie Dee, you are loved.
Well thank you Brant :)
Excellent Julie, absolutely spot on, how people believe the next muppet will save them, when really its just one BIG club...
Nice Julie.

When I was drumming I got nicknamed "" animal"" so I used to sometimes play the drum intro on muppet show, those were the days.😉🎵🎵🥁🥁😂😂😂😂
Excellent stuff

How can you not like Substack ?
There is a -- pleasant -- surprise every day .
For example , when I saw this essay my reaction was ,
“ Ugh , something I'm NOT going to be commenting on . “
I don't always follow my own rule , but my general rule is giving people grief is pointless.
You aren't going to convert them .
So you are really just being an asshole .
But if I did play the asshole , if I did say my pointless piece ,
It would be that I don't like the Muppet Show or Sesame Street .
I don't like the Muppet Show or Sesame Street because I don't think you are dealing with a needy, quirky frog ,
Or dealing with some cosetted , country - club - origin hippy chick who perhaps likes children a bit too much , either .
I think you are dealing with a corporation and / or a government pretending to be your friend .
--- BUT , you wrote it , so …..
I'll read it . It will pass the time at least .
Come to find out that I didn't have to write all that Debbie - Downer stuff anyway . Lol .
I’m unsure if this means you liked the post or you didn’t. I am however certain you didn’t like Sesame Street/The Muppet Show….so that’s something 😉🤷♀️😂
That was a like .
I have a dream.
Very good analogy I'm personally sick of the whole lot of them.
All Pied Pipers but so many are desperate for new heroes.

They resurrected Fraggle Rock during lockdown.

What an era for telly, eh? Kids and otherwise.

Love this !
Thanks. I did like the actual Muppet Show though, before it was real 😂
Me too!
Sadly, the violent cartoons of yesteryear in which characters turn on each other so often and so savagely would not accurately represent politics.
Oh…..hang on…😳
I spotted and changed it earlier so it should be gone now. 😬🤷♀️Sadly, most of my editing/proof reading takes place after publishing 😂
