And no, I’ve not shown her the Mother’s Day poem. That would just be too bloody weird 😂😂

Omg the landlady one ♥️

Yes I have an unwanted tenant, must of us do. But bit by bit I am chucking his things out till one day only the song will remain (and I have started to re-purpose that 😉)

Isn’t it the way that songs get you more than anything else? Just take you unawares. And when we purposely put them on, what on Earth are we thinking, seriously?

Enjoy your day, lovely x

Well one of the songs is a recording of him playing it (guitarist) but there are many I watched him perform too. I am working hard at repurposing them so now mostly they provide a happy place xx

All of your poems are very captivating and thoughtful. I really like the one where you stay true to who you are, and say it like it is. It is too easy in todays day and age to get suckered into all the bull that is heavily infested everywhere—it’s refreshing to see someone that is doing it different. Thank you for sharing!

I hate it. I’m sooooo not a crowd pleaser nor money chaser, freedom is everything to me, would live on beans on toast, friendless rather than hold back or tone myself down.

Yes! Exactly! It’s lovely you stick to that! I try to do that too, but sometimes I’m a sucker and get sucked into things I really don’t want to do or be in—then I get really mad at myself because I caved. It’s all from like legacy emotions from childhood, where I had to what was expected of me or seriously bad things would happen. I’m working on it, and find most days I win—writers like you are big encouragement and a great reminder to keep doing that. Sorry for the rambling! Thanks again!

I like those a lot. Landlady to the visitors in your head is just so true.

The Mother’s Day poem:

What can I say?

Your thoughts are so insightful

Happy Mothers Day.

Yes.

Some of them just stay living inside your head for what seems forever, don’t they?

Sometimes i try to make things rhyme but for that poem I didn’t because it would have felt like attempting to neaten and prettify those howling screams that reside within us.

They do! Two family members (not my Mama), and I’m working on it.

There was another one, sticking to my aura, but since I’ve forgiven him, he’s left.

Your poem was absolutely perfect Julie.

Lovely poems! The one on social media is a good fit for me: not here to grow subscribers but to speak about things that matter to me and share what inspires and moves me.

Thank you for these beautiful poems. I see some intertwining themes as I read them: the first, higher forces or fates that drive growth in a generally positive direction (or at least with a measure of symmetry); the second, our tendency as humans to get in the way of this natural flow with our foibles - the way we treat others or our own head space; the third, the only real remedy to this is to be who we are, listen to and act upon our inner voice, not have our fire extinguished by the wants or concerns of others (though the risk to this, that you talk about in the preamble, is the emotion can dry up if we harden our heart to the world in general).

And the final poem, a synthesis of all this in your relationship with your mum. An acceptance that our lives are filled with compromises and imperfections but are beautiful nonetheless.

That’s insightful, thank you. I am never sure the order in which to place them. They were written 2,1,3,4 so they are nearly presented as they fell!

I like what you observed and agree.

Marrying our ideals with what is actually presented to us and finding joy in that without feeling too compromised, is surely the business of life.

Families eh?

They’re complicated beasts!

Whatever your day brings you, I know your wonderful dogs will bring you much joy, as always. And that’s why animals are the best, they never let you down. xx

It won’t be a typical Mother’s Day here btw, my mum lives too far away (I’ve no car) to visit for the day and my son finds the concept stressful so I won’t be able to stay home. Will just go find something nice to do alone for the day.

Enjoy your Sunday, lovely x
