And I absolutely put this one on Facebook cause I saw loads of other folk sharing that other syrupy piece of shit.

A rant with bells on! The best kind. This was very poignant for me as I’ve just written a letter to a friend that touches on these very issues.

I totally get that Christmas is a difficult time for many. If anything traumatic ever happened to you in any given December (what are the chances? - especially with all the alcohol flowing, family dynamics etc) then it is going to replay itself very easily on an annual basis because we are surrounded, more than any other time, by triggers (or anchors in Neuro-Linguistic Programming) sights, sounds and smells that automatically remind us it’s that time again.

But as you rightly point out, Julie, that isn’t anyone else’s fault and shouldn’t become anyone else’s problem. In the words of Bing Crosby, let your heart be light 🎄

I rattled that off really quick as I was fired after seeing yet another one of those bloody posts. They’re like bad charity adverts. I half expect to see “if you could give just £10 a month…” tagged on the end.

We’ve all got our shit going on.

Be happy for other people FFS - what is wrong with the world!

Who wants a lowest common denominator life? Most of us go through good times and bad times and the bad makes you appreciate the good when it comes around.

Exactly. Always someone both better and worse off than yourself. Whatever part of the wheel of fortune you currently occupy, it’s forever turning.

I get the principle, of course. But people should just do what they want to do. Share what you want to share. That’s the pleasures of personal choice and free will.

That said, some people who share *every* single frigging moment of their life via Facebook or Insta etc is enough to piss me off by itself, presents under a tree or not. It’s one of the joys of NOT having these joyous platforms 🤣

And there’s always the unfollow button, mute, delete. No-one forces anyone to look.

Thankfully it’s not been a problem being Facebook free for 10 years. Even my own wife unfollowed me because I would post what the fuck I wanted or felt like and it used to upset ‘friends.’ The jokes that everyone took offence to. That was my thing 😬😀
