This a wonderful piece of writing about Silas. His personality runs as an undercurrent from his first meow. Cats do teach us much. They seem to understand Justice more than anything - as tolerant and forgiving as they can be, they will not stand for unfairness. They fully expect what they are entitled to and give accordingly.

I miss him lots. My son gets very anxious around animals though. He told me once he had a ‘nightmare’ I brought a ginger kitten home, bless him🥰

I will have another one day though, maybe two.

Anyone raised on “The Tiger who Came to Tea” could relate. Deeply symbolic of our fears of the unknown and our varying abilities to adapt and cope!

By Maurice Sendak, of Where the Wild Things are. I had it read to me as a child and then both my eldest and my youngest loved it, so three bites of the cherry. The bit that I always loved about Tiger that came to Tea was an impromptu trip to a cafe - it seemed so exotic to eat egg and chips anywhere other than home!

I've had 2 black cats and 3 black/whites for the very same reason you mention. We only only adopt rescues and in their own way, they've all chosen us rather than the other way round.

So sorry about what you and he had to go through at the end. Talk about inhumane...makes my blood boil x

What a lovely story of your cat’s life. I absolutely love cats. They are superior animals & love their independence, sense of adventure & the way they always find the best place to be comfortable & warm🥰

Yes they seriously know how to ‘do’ comfort!

Beautiful piece, Julie.

My parents had a black cat who died when I was about 13

The replacement was a tortoiseshell interloper called Topsy. As a teenager, I paid Topsy little attention, but that cat was still around when I visited home at age almost 40.!

They live a long time don’t they?

Mine was already about 3 when we got him I think.

I know you love cats Viv, and hoped you’d like it.

We have our memories - they are amazing aren’t they?

Yes I remember you love cats and I also remember some of the pictures you have showed me.

I love all animals. Can’t think of one I dislike, but cats sync with my vibe. I admire the authenticity of them and refusal to beg or show remorse. (Does that make me sound like a serial killer😂😂)

One day I will definitely have another, maybe even two….

Not sure why she deleted that comment/unsubscribed! 💔

Hope I didn’t get the wrong person.

Someone on Twitter called Kat definitely inboxed me pictures of their cat once! I did know about 3 people on Twitter called Kat or Cat though.

Totally overthinking now…..🤔😧
