Poems of strength and love

Last week or so I have felt stronger, got into a rhythm.

There have been challenges, but I feel energised and able to cope, which is what it’s all about really, isn’t it?

We cannot always stop the trials that come our way but we better face them from a position of power.

Strengthening

Strengthening, as sapling tree

Each day to reach new highs

Lengthening, the shadows made

I wade a cobalt sky

Gleefully, grey clouds are passed

The doldrums are transcended

I rise as heat, world at my feet

My days of dark have ended

Wild Woods

The wild woods of his eyes, they called

To prise me from my gate

Insisted I must taste his lore

And lured me to my fate

He beckoned me to silver streams

Old cottages and stiles

He ate my heart as gingerbread

Left picnics for my child

And since I’ve known those wild, wild woods

Landscape forever changed.

No bluebell glade compares to him

No other copse the same.

Which dell could hold such sweet cascades

That fall as maiden hair

The winding paths with drops and peaks

Such clarity of air

Guide me to black velvet earth

Bed down on yielding moss

As finches court with melody

I’m found in being lost.

Oranges

I taste our time as oranges

So vibrant, clean and light

Staining my soul with citrus sweet

Jewelling my pupils bright

Each moment hosts a fragrant grove

Cajoling me from sorrow

For what is blossom, if not sign

Of new fruit born tomorrow?
