I should add that as well as the time of year, this week I was also thinking a lot about the news about my friend (previous post) and a documentary I watched at the cinema about the photographer Tish Murtha and how she really should have been more well known in her lifetime than she actually was.
The darker make up was probably informed by the time of year too. When I go paler I feel the urge to go a bit more goth with it.
And I should also add that the lipstick was also probably smudged by trying some truly vile ‘cauliflower buffalo wings’ but couldn’t work that into the poem, you know?😉😂
In what universe did I ever think that was a good idea?😂😂😂🤷♀️
When I walk and come across those old tumble down dwellings I stand and imagine living in one, seeing it whole and full of life once more :)
I have never really worn lipstick but totally understand and love your poem!
The school chatter is spot on. Our children want to talk to us less as they grow so we have to make the most of the time they want to chatter (no matter their age really!). x
Yes all the pics in this post I took myself and that building is quite near to where I live. I particularly like to do as you’ve said when I visit Haworth which is only a short bus ride from me because I imagine the Brontë children playing in those old buildings and climbing the large stones. Yes I absolutely love it when my son wants to talk about his day with me because for how much longer. You’re quite right. X
My daughter (19) has come around to chatting again, we went through a period when she was very withdrawn. My son (22) who always used to talk to me has now gone more 'grown up' (as he sees it) and talks a lot less! I just try to be there for them when they do want to spend any time with me, even watching a movie now feels like bonus time. It sometimes feels like a long time ago (and yet it doesn't at the same time) when I wanted to delete the word 'Muuuuuuum?' from our language :D
Very pensive today Julie! Love the darker make up too.
I can relate to the chatter (as I'm sure my daughter will) as my 9 year old grandson is so noisy. even when he's alone in his bedroom! We would rather he was like this though, than being morose or tight lipped. At least he's able to vocalise his feelings. Good work as usual ... keep it up 💜
Many of my poems are dark Jean. I think it’s my way of working through stuff. When I found out my friend had stage 4 cancer recently (prev post) it threw me a curve ball and I’ve been digesting it.
I’m very pleased your grandson can vocalise his feelings. It really helps as they get older I think.
Make up wise, yes this time of year brings out the goth in me!x
Sometimes I very much hear poems as songs but because I can’t write music and ain’t singing it, I can’t convey the melody. That was one of those poems. It came to me as a song.
I liked the idea of turning situations that tie you down or stifle you into daisy chains in your head.

If anyone can incorporate the words "cauliflower buffalo wings" into a poem, it's you! x
😂😂😂😂
Hmm…..😂😂

Bless!🥰
My son is very, very chatty. And I was exactly the same in that respect when I was a kid. Bloody hell, I’m still the same now as an adult 😂😂🤷♀️
Me too 😁 even my surname means ‘to chatter’ in the Norfolk dialect! 😂
Aww does it? I really like that🥰

I knew that make up reminded me of someone ... my daughter was a goth as a teenager... black leather biker jacket and Doc Marten boots!! 😃
I still wear my docs everywhere 😂😂😂
Brilliantly crafted November magic. Thank you. Sleeping rough on Devil's broth is such a perfect line.
Thank you, Christian.

It totally is a song! Though it lacks a bridge. I've just nicked the chords of Grapefruit Moon by Tom Waits and it fits quite nicely.
Love the photos and all of the poems. Exposed is my favourite ✨️ xx
