Poignant Julie. I empathise with the ‘tough week’ and only wish I had your ability to find a way to convey my feelings without sounding like I’m suffering from poor me syndrome. I’m beleaguered by people saying ‘it’ll all be alright in the end’, therefore absolving themselves of having to take anything not relating to them on board. I hope you find some solace in your wordsmithery I know we do.

Oh I’m sure I do sound ‘poor me’. I had loads. Deleted about four from here! It’s just my therapy!

All that said, the last couple of days I’ve felt brighter. Saw a friend yesterday and seeing another on Sunday.

I will see if son wants to come out with me today but he is struggling going out at the moment. Hopefully that will subside when things get settled with his next school.

Try and enjoy your weekend best you can Janette. Sending love xx

‘My therapy’ through an art you are blessed with. I hope he wants to go out.

Sale crashed on my house and now having to go through it all again in a dead market. It’s like a millstone around my neck, even the garden, which used to be my joy, is ganging up on me. Grass! What a pain in the arse that is! It’s like a petulant other that needs constant attention 😂🤦‍♀️ Xx

Oh bless you Janette. Yes son worries he will flip out and cause people stress so this impinges on his own desire to go anywhere. I keep trying to reassure, tell him to let me know if he is struggling.

Yes I can imagine trying to sell a property atm is extremely difficult. Hang in there, lovely xx

Julie, you are such a wonderful wordsmith. I’m in awe of how you weave words in such beautiful ways and your keen observation of the world around you. I love your take on the colour maroon. I won’t ever be able to look at that colour again without thinking of your poem. Bravo 👏

Oh thank you.

And I won’t be able to see it again without thinking of that person. It seems so apt.

I appreciate you being here x

Sorry about the rough week, but those poems do have something

Thanks. Poems are my way of expressing how I’m feeling.

I find them cathartic.

Sometimes i think I’m just boring people but if I can’t stick them here on my own substack, where can I put it, hey?

I’ve been collecting mine on a Wordpress site, but I’m thinking some of them may wander to my Substack too, as the wordpress site is pretty obscure. I think it was Leonard Cohen who said, “if your life is burning well, poetry is just the ash”

I love Leonard Cohen. I have some of his poems on audio and listen to them as I do housework.

I haven’t heard that but like that quote.

Once I had an idea of doing a website but I’m crap with tech and this just seemed easier.
