I remember tweeting about this story before when I used to be on Twitter, but thought it deserved a better write up. It serves as a reminder to myself that there are always others in more difficult situations than you can possibly imagine.
I have a friend whose mum is a nanny for the elites. She is flown around in private jets and paid a small fortune for bringing up their babies. She puts them in a night routine so the parents aren’t disturbed. Many of them use surrogates. Few spend much time with the babies or the other children. I honestly don’t know why they bother.
Madam will face her own demons of that I’m sure.
I hope you get to the Philippines one day Julie. Thanks for sharing part of their story xxx
What an incredible story that leaves me so angry about Madam…I want to knock her teeth out too! I had a situation back in my twenties with child services here in America- another bureaucracy more interested in power and rules than the children it purports to serve. Painful. I wish such stories could reach the ears of those in a position to help, but there are too many Madams in the world and I sense their numbers growing…
You didn’t fail them. You showed love and kindness when it was sorely needed. If you set about trying to “fix” desperate human situations, where the hell would you ever be able to stop? When you can’t do what you should, you do what you can.
Maybe it would be cathartic to write a fictional, wish fulfilment version? An alternate universe in which Madam gets a smack in the gob and you all make your escape in a stolen seaplane, perhaps accompanied by a wisecracking cockroach?
Oh my goodness what a harrowing tale. I understand your desperate need to help. My injustice meter would have been off the scale too. Let’s hope their lives turned out okay.
I’ve only read the 1st paragraph so far… was the Amathus Beach next door to the Adonis Hotel? That’s where Dad and I stayed the night before he dropped me off at boarding school! 😆
It was even longer ago for me. In all probability the Adonis was closed before your arrival, but I’m pretty sure it was to the left of the Amathus as you’re looking at the beach 🏖️
Omg my heart is in my mouth, I feel so torn and sad after reading this. Bless you for telling the situation. We all need to know and somehow help. Both of my stepsons are happily married to women from the Philippines who have good jobs here. I did not know anything like this could happen to women from there…
Julie you are the Mother of Hope. I pray those ladies escaped. You were there for a reason; to embolden them. Human trafficking takes so many forms. Karma will blow her way some day and she’ll discover she’s the tail when she thought she were the head.
I’m so happy you ministered to these ladies, I’m sure you changed their life when you provided them Hope. 💞💫💞

How harrowing. 😢
Totally 💔

Karma is a bitch….I’m hoping! Yes I’ve done nannying jobs for some right cunts back in the day. Will maybe tell some of those stories one day.

There are nasty people the world over sadly but plenty of nice ones too hey?
We do what we can with the tools we have at the time. We can do no more ❤️

I like to think karma paid her a visit.
What a story. Thanks for sharing.
Glad you appreciated

It was heartbreaking, they were both so lovely. One day I will get to The Phillipines and knock on for them. One day, eh?🙏
That's wonderful 😊
Heartbreaking xx
It was
Wow. Puts my petty problems in perspective. 😔
Yes it haunts me that story.💔 One of the worst I’ve personally been told.
Bless you for trying for them anyway. I hope they did find a happy ending eventually ❤️🩹
One day I will visit and try to find out ❤️🙏

I remember the Four Seasons being next door but it was a long, long time ago so my memories are hazy😂😂

Yes it’s absolutely heart wrenching isn’t it?💔
