So true, Julie. The problem multiplies when the money for harnesses have not only been spent on endless corruption but also "invested" into high end harnesses reserved only for the people who walked into the zipline compound through the exit.

Yes it didn’t take long for the Uniparty to reveal itself as just that. Same as the last lot.

A great article Julie. This government is happy to spend money on foreign aid, the war in Ukraine and the ever growing number of illegals, while the frail and vulnerable indigenous people can get fucked. It’s a cull, a continuation of the killer covid jabs. It’s difficult enough as it is to get disability benefits. The only people who get easy handouts are the illegals. Trump, for all his faults, at least puts the American people first. Starmer is just a puppet of his globalist masters.

Thank you. Starmer bizarrely manages to piss off both those who voted for him and those who didn’t. And Trump…..well who knows what will happen next there, every day something new. It won’t be dull that’s for sure!

Thank you. So many other places they could ‘shave £6 billion’ from. I can think of several.

Interesting. So, you are seeing this behavior from politicians in your country, too. It seems to be pervasive.

This wrongheaded think around public spending is why I quit being a social services manager. I couldn’t continue to pretend that we were valuing people and making a positive difference when all we were doing was finding soft and creative ‘doublespeak’ ways of telling them we were only going to give them the absolute minimum of support that they were statutorily entitled to, and not a penny more. It’s all about a nonsense notion of ‘equity’ in sharing out scant resources. How about not having scant resources in the first place? It’s a world of abundance but the powerful few have it stitched right up.

Yes it’s insane that people don’t get what they need whilst money is frittered away on stupid things no-one actually wants. I hope your new job will allow you to make more of a difference.

Thank you for expressing this so perfectly. The scorn I’ve witnessed the last few days has been off the scale, false stories about the govt handing out BMWs etc, put out as clickbait. This needed to be said x

You're absolutely right. I guess I am an anarchist/libertarian, so the less government the better in my view. But the manner in which we are being pitted against each other by the State is reprehensible. Whether it's Muslims vs. Christians, workers vs. 'wasters', Labour vs. Conservative, they want us at each other's throats so we don't notice what they are doing behind our backs.

Here in Ireland a few years ago, the government introduced a hotline number so that anyone wrongly claiming social welfare payments could be reported by citizens. This was in a country where the 'informer' was traditionally shunned or worse. And a country were billions were being trousered by the elites, without anyone caring it seems.

The minister responsible was Leo Varadkar who later on, as Taoiseach, presented the horrors of his 'pandemic' to a softened up population.

Yes I completely understand that first sentiment. Whatever the ‘shoulds’ of the situation, the fact remains that we just can’t rely on them to step up when it matters. Necessity forces our hand.

Whilst I agree that some of those numbers are alarming, I refute the idea there isn’t enough money. If we are spending billions sustaining wars no-one wants, then there clearly is money available.
