Loved reading this. You describe the tacky glamour and dangerous excitement of the fair so well.

Thanks. It’s a funny little story really, very much about getting carried away with the promise of something then realising you had a bloody lucky escape 😂😂

Great name! Are you familiar with Seinfeld? An American comedy TV show from the 90s. One of the characters is named George and in a funny scene his co workers nick name him Coco! It’s only real funny if you are into the show and understand the character development. But here is the scene. It’s spelled Koko after a monkey. That’s one reason I thought it was so funny.

When I look back so many nearlys…

You think you’re so grown up as a teenager but you’re really not. Do some of us have a guardian angel do you think?

Same here.

I don’t know. Years ago I would have said yes I do. I’m a little more sceptical these days because although I’ve had near misses, I’ve also landed in the shit a fair few times too. 😂

I suppose one person’s lucky is another person’s unlucky. If you get hit by a bus then survive, are you lucky you survived or unlucky you were hit in the first place? Hmm…..

Oh thank you. I write different things but have categorised it into stories, poems, musings and opinion pieces at the top of the page so if there’s a particular thing that’s more your bag, that will hopefully help :)

Always 'What if's'... unless of course there's a parallel universe!

BTW I had that book too, with that cover.

Hormone overload tale😂 - love it!

Yes was definitely that at 15 - and now at nearly 50, sadly in a somewhat different way!😂

Loved your cautionary tale - full of striking allusions like the pink wafer/town hall bit. Wistful and quite bleak despite the glamour but with humour, well paced too.

Cheers. I still quite like a tacky fair 😂

But don’t get off with any of the waltzer pushers these days😂😂

Quite. I’d imagine these days that Coco is a bit less ‘bar room brawl’ and a bit more ‘repetitive strain injury and type 2 diabetes’ 😆

😂😂 still cracks me up that was his name. Coco might have been spelled Cocoa - that’s me giving him a bit of street edge 😂😂

And you went out with a Dino too? Boy’s names ending with O are so exotic - with the possibility exception of Jethro.
