I'm upset by this, and I hope we can change, we being us humans. There's a dong by Laura Marling, one line goes, * we have minds handed down to us* when we realise this then a new perspective may cone along
You really should consider publishing your work professionally. Your story telling especially is always easy and inviting to read. Has anyone else suggested it to you?
Thanks Steve. A woman approached me to write her social media posts (paid) for her a few months ago but then it all kicked off with my son and I didn’t have the headspace to take it further.
As for my own stuff, it seems like a big task to collate what I already have (and so many types of writing that don’t necessarily fit well together - shitshow rants, love poetry, memoirs……only here on my craaazzzy page😂).
As for a novel or something, I’m still not there yet creatively i don’t think. Don’t have the patience yet but maybe I’ll get there eh?🤷♀️
I’m sure there’s a market for books with many short bite size pieces. Novels aren’t great for those with busy lives / lack of attention span. But these are the people who may benefit most from your important slant on the world.
Yes, it is one great big knot. Our parent's beliefs are our beliefs until we can think freely, and even then we may stick with whatever our tribe tells us. This is why indoctrination, heavy censorship and media manipulation are wrong. Only by trying to understand all points of view in a conflict can we become more enlightened, then peace becomes a possibility. I saw an interview after the 9/11 atrocities. A brother and sister whose brother had been murdered in the attacks responded not with the rage and distress that would have been completely understandable, but by saying "We have to try to understand why people hate us this much". True wisdom being expressed by people who did not deserve that hatred but understood that they had to confront it on an intellectual level as well as a visceral level if peace was to be achieved. I've never forgotten that display of humanity. Perhaps because you so rarely see it.
I'm glad you confronted the parents of those children and called them out on passing down hatred to their children. I'm sorry it didn't work, but then you never know. Even the children who took in their parent's view of things may later in their hearts question it because a kind and loving teacher once told them that kind of hate is wrong and hurtful.
I imagine it would have been harder to speak out to that bus driver. I'm not sure I would have had the courage either. But when we see and hear that kind of thing we need to speak up, resist it, call it out for what it is, challenge it. Not let it be the last word on the subject. Thank you for sharing this story, for speaking out.
It was many years ago and I really hoped it would work but they just looked at me like I was stupid and didn’t understand. The kids were scared to go against their parents. They had been brainwashed with hate, sadly. We can but try, hey? 💔❤️🙏
Divisive events like we have seen in the past couple of weeks sadly play on people’s prejudices, ingrained from early on. The people orchestrating them depend on that. 😞

Yes to think that was all those years ago - 27 - and still these evils are upon us. Still we haven’t moved on.💔
We must always keep hope though x
Your way with words can soften almost any subject Julie.
In a way that aids compassion hopefully 🙏🤞

Yes i listen to a lot of audio books these days, think it’s the only way I manage a novel.

Yes, a history of hate is capitalised upon by governments and leaders to aid agendas and further manipulate 💔
It's sociopathic. When I see this carnage I feel sick.

They do indeed. The little people suffer as per usual.💔
Innocence sacrificed at the altar of culturally developed belief systems.
Exactly
