The grandkids are fascinated by the exploding seed pods. We are also plagued with Giant Hogweed along the river courses. All the kids know to keep well away from this nasty stuff.
Beautiful plant .... but! I used to grow Deadly nightshade in my Seacroft (Leeds) garden until I caught the missus thinking to try the attractive berries. (Perhaps I shouldn't have said anything! (Ha-ha!) Another oddity in N. Ireland is the distinct lack of cowslips ... anywhere! The verges on the A1 in Yorkshire are teeming with them in spring. I'm growing a load of them and dividing them to plant out locally. I'll have to see if I can stop the council going around with weedkiller!
Yes I’m in Yorkshire too and it’s the train route to Leeds I was thinking of actually. I’ve always thought ‘Deadly Nightshade’ sounded like such a great name for a plant. Someone really thought about that one.
Wow your best ever after your sublime poppies piece from a while back! You actually make me look fwd to fall with a relish! Wee spiders and those dewy webs!! Mm, roast chestnuts! Collecting conkers! Brushing thru leaves on a walk, nice!
I can’t even remember writing anything about poppies!
What was weird was I wrote this, stuck it on Facebook then a lady asked me if she could use it in an online magazine about Cheltenham. I just said yeah why not? Y’know….Cheltenham has Autumn too, right?😂😂
Fall is my favorite time of the year! Thank you for this beautiful ode to fall.
Thanks for taking the time to read it and leave a comment. Much appreciated.
Teasel good! Himalayan Balsam no so good…… We have raiding parties here in N.Ireland that go out removing the stuff before it seeds.
Yes very invasive species

Yes the giant hog weed is insane sometimes. You see it from the train and in some areas it’s enormous, triffids.

Yeah your fabulous pink poppies tweet about how they totter back drunk in heels after a party in their pink dresses, your "girls"
Poor Cheltenham, difficult to feel the seasons in a town or at the beach
Oh yeah when I was writing about the ones outside my house! They are sleazy Cinderellas when they start batting about in that wind😂
I loved them, most glorious, never seen pale pink before - Kent we get orange or Flanders red growing wild everywhere
Love this! Autumn and spring are my favourite times of year 🍁🍂 They feel so much more balanced and calm my mood ❤️
Apart from the dog shit that hides in those leaves that gets me every bastard year, I’m with you 😂😂 x
They DID use it in a magazine (it’s at the back of this) - a bit random but hey, they have Autumn in Cheltenham, right? 😂

To you too my lovely. I need something to get passionate about and Autumn most definitely ticks that box! 😍
