Autumn can indeed be ruthless, Julie. Sometimes it can come completely unannounced and blindside you. Too busy bathing in the complacency of long summer nights to notice the changing of leaves, shortening of days, and the fresh chill in the air. My summer has ended, as you say, but I'm happy with that, I want the seasons now, all of them, and I intend to enjoy every fucking one of them.

Sometimes life can feel like a perpetual winter, but it's the coldest of days that bring about the change of seasons. But, like you say, I accept life is cyclical and the end of summer will visit once again. But that's okay, because as you beautifully put it "Autumn surely mirrors realisation, maturity and wising up", and it's in those lessons that I will never fear it.

This really moved me, Julie, spoke directly to me. That's a rare quality and a very special talent.

Oh thank you, Peter.

I always have faith in the seasons coming back round.

As far as love is concerned, Autumn means you’re only another two seasons away from your next Spring, hey?

All in the reframe!

Beautiful words. I love Autumn and as I’ve got older have found peace and solace in the British seasons. A constant reminder that ‘this too shall pass’ and the cycle of life will always continue. x

Thanks Natalie. Autumn is literally golden. It reminds us to cherish what we have when we have it.

You’re clearly not rubbish. I suspect your line ‘the air was frost’ had something to do with me thinking of him!

I wasn’t fishing for compliments, I meant that I don’t know the work of that many poets or not consciously. Some, but not many - and there are so many! Often they infiltrate and infuse our world just by us hearing them in their usage in everyday life don’t they.

Agreed. And telling someone they’re ‘not rubbish’ must qualify as the most low energy compliment ever!

Love it. Reminiscent of Robert Frost’s Nothing Gold Can Stay but with greater sensuality.

I’m rubbish. I don’t know nearly as many poems as I should. Sounds a beautiful and haunting title though, so I shall find it and read with interest.

Glad it spoke to you anyway, Christian.

Proper depressing ending I stuck on that one, kinda like, “think it’s shit now? You just wait for winter….”

Sounds like my first relationship. I went to Uni he didn’t. It turned into a self fulfilling prophecy. For all I loved him -and I really did - hearing “you’re gonna end up leaving me because you’ll have such a good time…” blah blah all the time starts to grate after a while….

It’s a bridge they may have to cross and all you can do is watch xx
