Great photos Julie! And it looks like you have a lovely walk... I am so curious about that "Feral Child" sign!

Thank you.

I have never seen a sign like that before in my life! Was trying to work out if it was supposed to be (slightly darkly?) humorous or actually meant something more. I might Google to see if they are actually *a thing*.

Well my curiosity is peaked so please do tell what you find!

I think I've seen it before (if it's where I think it is, off Heptonstall road) and has been there for a while, having replaced a handmade sign that said "Free Range Children". Definitely tongue-in-cheek.

Cold here. I could see it was frosty there. The picture of the moss was glorious.

I would click the heart twice if I could, but one will have to do. Thank you for sharing your walk! I feel sure I was right there, but my heart and lungs tell me I don’t get to count it until I’m on my own feet. Very well. Next time. Lovely photos and voiceover!

Substack is being weird. I got an email of the post but it refuses to show up in my Substack inbox. I could only get to it via the link that Pamela posted?

Thank you Julie. Lovely photos (including the one of you, looking impishly pleased with yourself...) and what a day it was for a walk! A combination of sunlight, frost and the mist of one's own breath. I walked from Dewsbury to Wakefield today along the Calder and it was wonderful. I felt as though I were on horseback at times with a such a buoyant spring in my step. I've done a lot of canal walking this summer (Leeds to Liverpool, Manchester to Wakefield - almost full circle by the end of the year if I get a move on) and it's been beautiful, but the autumn colours today were the best. I didn't encounter as much wildlife/livestock as you but the Herons are always a majestic sight.

I spotted a heron too but that was whilst I was on the bus so couldn’t take a pic of that as went past too quick.

Yes sometimes when I walk, I’m boinging about like Zebedee and I wonder if if will look too much on a video “just filming from my trusty space hopper here” - know what you mean there😂
