Looks lovely and a wise message too. I love the way the wooden spoon literally blends in, colour-wise. Celery is strange. No real taste of its own but it definitely adds something to stews etc. that I miss when I don’t have any.

Celery stalks, not much flavour. Celery leaves from the center of the bundle, though? They add some magic!

Thank you. I did not know that.

Thank you. Yes maybe I was too quick to dismiss celery. It definitely adds a note but we survived without it!

Spooky! I’ve just done exactly the same thing. What’s in the veg drawer? Pack of cherry tomatoes going a tad wrinkly so I roasted them in olive oil, kale, spring onions and half a jar of sun dried tomatoes. In the soup maker with a couple of veg cubes. Tasted great. Who needs to work to a recipe? 👌

I think we eat rich stuff over Christmas then get to a point when we crave real nutrition again. Yes I do that with cherry tomatoes too - sometimes I roast a tray of Med veg then use it for dropping into stuff during the week.

The soup had kale in it. Love kale - home made sea salt and lime kale chips are one of my favourite healthy snacks to eat.

Recipes should inspire not direct.

Your story reminds me of the "Stone Soup" fairy tale. :-)
