Today, I get to….
Instead of starting the day by contemplating what you ‘have to’ do, reframe it, embrace your opportunities!
Today, I get to…..
Today, I get to open my eyes wide as baubles, roll them around, blink, wink, become conscious of the functions they offer me, how they can zoom in, pan out, scan, skim and focus.
Today, I get to inhale slowly. Feel fresh air climb inside my nostrils, cool jets recharging me.
Today, I get to view a shell pink sunrise, a tawny sunset and all the purring petrol and soft silver shades between them.
Today, I get to shower, feeling water cleanse and renew me. I get to watch old hair and skin find its way to the plug hole making way for new growth.
I get to make it sensual, as aromatic oil hits steam, have beads perform hot rain dances upon my lips and tongue.
Today, I get to wear clothes I choose. I get to pick a colour I want to radiate, a texture I want to feel against my body, shapes that showcase my form as conscious expression.
Today, I get to eat ripe, lush fruit bursting in my mouth as flavoursome fireworks.
Today, I get to hear bird song as tooting country flutes, the rustle of wild leaves, horn muzz of a distant lawn mower.
Today, I get to listen to my favourite music, audio book or pod cast. To devour notes, words and voices greedily as honey razors and spiralling angels. Have them tumble my mind together as mismatched socks for my mental laundry to grieve and pair.
Or I can savour silence as a single, encompassing cleaving star.
Today, I get to walk my son to his school bus, to point out discarded blossom tiding roads as floral foam, enjoy the short cut through a fragrant blue belled wood, notice the curl of ferns, the loving sheen of his warm brown eyes.
Today, I get to swim, feel my limbs curve through liquid, cut currents, sculpt the force against me. Immerse myself.
Today, I get to decide what to make for dinner. To source fresh ingredients, be inspired to try something new or browse hand written heirloom recipes I treasure.
Today, I get to read, write, learn new things of my choice. I get to fill my brain with ideas of people I admire, who lift and motivate me.
Today, I get to smile at strangers, passing on a fleeting fragment of joy as a butterfly, a second briefly resting upon their face.
Today, I get to turn off the news, dispense with the Debbie Downers and dark thoughts that tug at my attention as vampiric drains.
I get to kick past and future to the kerb, telling them firmly they are not NOW and therefore I will not engage with their distracting dramas.
Today,
I get to change the world, ever so slightly, just by being in it, honouring what I have and exuding that energy.
And
So do you!
About six months ago, I saw this advice from a woman I follow on Facebook, she said; “instead of saying I have to… say I get to….”
It really struck a chord because attitude and perception is all in how we talk to ourselves, isn’t it?
Try it!
This is so motivational, Julie!
This is a perfect example of how to frame things positively. I love how the ‘mundane’ become magical with intention ❤️
