Good work. Breaking a barrier generally happens smoothly and almost accidentally, at a time when you're distracted from the obstacles. "Huh? Oh! I just did it? Yes!! "

This made me remember the time my brother was teaching me how to ride the bicycle. He would hold the back for me so that I wouldn't fall. And then after some time, he let me go and started running beside me. I fell due to shock but also realized that I could ride the cycle without him holding it now.

This resonates Julie, literally and figuratively! Im 51 and only learnt to swim in adulthood. Although I am capable, there is something about the deep end that triggers my anxiety. In life its best to resist from overthinking, and trust in your abilities, but it's often easier said than done 🙄

I hear you and well done learning to swim as an adult. That must have taken great determination/motivation. Yes I am nearly 50 and haven’t been snorkelling. Soon to be rectified. I WILL go out of my comfort zone!! ☺️

This is a nice story of hope and courage. Good job mom! And may you snorkel like a champ on your upcoming trip!

I hesitate to share this but... the first time I did it...I did freak myself out about eels.🤦‍♀️But even then it's indescribable. My husband is a scuba diver who dove with sharks, no cage, and captured it on video. So in 2018 we went on a cruise and decided to snorkel in Honduras. I literally swam by a reef where a nurse shark was napping in the reef and I was excited to kind of be like my hubby. It's really cool. You won't regret it and it's an experience you won't forget. All wildlife is afraid of us, you don't need to worry. Sorry for the novel I'm just excited for you!🤷‍♀️

Aww thank you. I’m excited for it too. I am going to Galápagos and there is supposed to be such an abundance of wildlife/marine life there ❤️

Reminds me of the Corp. Jump in off the high dive; boots and Utes (Full uniform) tread water and test your grit...which also reminded me of the Lake as a kid and my reward of being with the grown-ups. Keep them coming Dee 🤙🏽

Yes when I was a kid they used to test us by having us wear pyjamas in the pool. We gained a badge. Happy days :)
