Did you ever play ‘Stuck in the mud’?
Someone tags you and you are unable to regain movement until another sets you free.
You watch the others, no longer a part of it.
You wait……
And wait…..
Finally someone spots you, chooses to save you and you are able to function again, play.
You rejoin the game.
Sometimes the tables are turned and you are able to do this to someone else.
Oh, the power of having someone do as you wish! Of freezing or liberating another!
Which position did you find yourself in most often?
The one unable to move or always on the go?
Which felt easier, more comfortable?
Doing something…………or nothing?
It dawned on me the other day that many of us still play this game as adults.
Hinge our freedom or goal on one person, one problem being solved.
If only *insert here* would save me!
There we stand, immobile, stuck in the mud, waiting for the magic touch.
The ‘good to go’, the ‘okay’.
Permission.
But if you were actually, physically stuck in the mud would you really just stand there?
Would you be waiting for someone to help you or would you be hauling yourself out with all your might?
If this resonates, then stop waiting for the right person, the right time, the right conditions.
It was only ever a game.
And you are free.
Get up, and go forward.
Great metaphor as ever Julie.
We live amongst people who are happy to play dead. Keep your head down, no responsibility, no fight.
I suppose really, we write all the rules ourself but we imagine others to blame
However freedoms just a step away, play another game
