Remember ‘Simon Says’?

The game in which you only do something when ‘Simon’ tells you to.

Hands on your head? Touch your toes?

BUT

You’re only allowed to, if ‘Simon’ okays it.

Well, here’s the deal

- These people still pop up

- They’re not all called ‘Simon’

AND

Many of you, ARE STILL PLAYING.

Thing with Simon, is that he’s charismatic, often literally a party starter.

He enters a room with his energy and jolts to life the sleeping bunnies. Suddenly, you’re on your feet again. It feels good to have direction, Simon’s attention, doesn’t it?

And best of all……

YOU DON’T HAVE TO THINK.

You just follow his lead.

Wanna know the commands ‘our Si’ is most fond of?

“Sign this petition”

“Attend this protest”

“Don’t pay your energy bill”

“Don’t follow that person”

“Email your MP”

“Join my party”

“Vote for me”

Simon fans are a dedicated and obedient bunch.

“What’s that, Simon? Bend over backwards? Kiss your arse? Yes, of course, Simon!”

Simon stands for the power of collective action and so do his followers.

It’s certainly a formidable force, I mean, look at gazelles. They run from lions, in their groups and…um….*most* of them survive, don’t they? Only the weakest ones get eaten by the lion, right?

I don’t know about you, but I’d rather be the lion.

He has his PRIDE - hangs with the crowd sometimes……but on his terms, secure in his own power. He knows he can hunt both together and alone.

I ask you, are you a lion or a gazelle?

Are your actions driven by strength or fear?

You don’t need to make a Mexican wave because you are already your own ocean.

Remember the kid at the party who was away with the fairies? The one who did her own thing, danced to her own tune.

I wanna be HER.

If I don’t wanna pay my bills, I won’t.

If I want to watch MSM, I will.

I will not wait for ‘Simon’ to tell me what is best.

In short, I need NO leaders other than my own intuition.

Self sovereignty is beautiful - and the best part is, it’s available in bite sized pieces!

That’s right - you don’t have to make a massive leap from your old voting, TV license funding habits to suddenly home educating off grid in a cabin in the woods. You do exactly what suits you, eliminating parts of *the system* as and when you see fit and feel able.

I always wanted one of the electronic ‘Simon’ games in the 80’s. But here’s the thing…..there were only 4 choices to press, weren’t there? Blue, Green, Red and Yellow.

So….what happened if you wanted purple or grey?

And sometimes the batteries would run out.

Or worse still, they would leak and the whole machine would break.

See where I’m going?

That’s right folks. Simon represents another ‘paint by numbers’, ‘colour in the lines’. Don’t do things HIS way and guess what? You’re out of the game.

Seriously man - It’s time you ditched that bossy fucker and took a peek at where the cool kids are hanging. They aren’t gonna tell you who to write to, who to vote for or what colour socks you should wear on Tuesday.

Why? Because they’re too busy working on themselves.

And imagine if we all did that?

Just worked on ourselves!

You’ve been conditioned to think you need a new hero, leadership, guidance…….

People have bought into the idea they need to be led. Lambs do the same - to the slaughter.

Every TV show and news article these days is steeped in what you should do, what you should worry about. They pander to a culture of dependency, fostering ‘Groupthink’.

Every political poll asks you which leader or party you prefer, failing to present that there is another option - that you need no authority other than your own.

Thing is, Simon himself knows all this. Reverse the game, try and tell him what to do and he doesn’t like it. He wants to call the shots. The guy is all for “collective action” on his terms.

Well, next time you see him, tell him from me that he’s welcome to his pieman selling wares and his distracting fairs.

There are very real battles to be fought and life’s too short to waste time on the same old rollercoasters and stuffing yourself with excess pastry.

It’s really THAT simple, Simon.
