I was never a neat and tidy anything. I am moved by my daily thoughts, music, events, true stories, etc.
I remember being told by someone I should make my Instagram (several years ago) look fluid, i.e., similar colored boxes, one topic, etc. I thought that was ridiculous. Amazing how people "buy" that. I'd rather have 5 authentic followers than thousands of hypnotized people 😵💫
Depends what you want - to be a commodity or yourself. I want to be 100% me. I have six paid subscribers now. It’s not many but never once have I gone full on hard sales, locked my content or any of that stuff. I’ve just been me all the way. Keep being you xx
Agreed! But also our life with those close to us by comparison can never compete with portrayals of exciting and interesting lives that many like to project. Backstory: I was labelled “boring” last night and it stings a bit. 🤣
I will try to entertain myself sometimes and usually my wife will just keep walking. We have been together for a loooong time so catching her off guard is hard to do but catching other people is fun. I was doing physical therapy this morning when a new patient came in. He had warmed up, worked with one of the machines then they were telling him what room to go to. I looked at my conspirators and we all whispered, "Whatever you do don't go to room 1 they put you in there close the door and we can't here you scream." The young man knew we were messing with him but when they told him to go to room 1, the look on his face was priceless. Sometimes you have to make your own happy place.
To love and be loved is the most important thing in life We must love ourselves first before we can love another human being.Dogs love unconditionally self acceptance warts and all our imperfections it's good not to be hard on yourself we are not perfect nor is anyone else.. Life is difficult.Know who you are we are on the voyage of self discovery.l am still learning at 75years.Glad l am alive. Thanks Julie 🦋 🐦 😊.x
Yes and sometimes self love is hardest because the longer we live, the more bad and stupid stuff we’ve done. Accepting ourselves as ‘only human’ is one of the hardest things of all.
I love your writing. Precisely because it never seems like some sort of party trick that you are wheeling out to make yourself look cool or marketable. Not so much shifting gears as always finding scenic routes. You go from the mundane to the polemical to the transcendent whilst always being full-on Julie. I’ve learnt a lot from you.
Thank you. I’m sure I must sound messed up and it must be confusing for some people. We’re told to niche, perform, market etc but I don’t want to. It’s my Substack so I reckon I just write what I want, eh? :)
Often, I write posts like this as messages to myself. They’re things most of us probably know deep down but maybe need reminding of. Sometimes voicing it (well writing it) makes it easier to heed.
