When you feel strong inside, really secure in your own capabilities, it’s a feeling you want to share with the whole world. You are invincible, fearless and want everyone to feel that surge you get knowing you can deal with anything, take on the world. But the thing is, you only get that feeling after a period of challenge. It’s like a prize for dealing with a shed load of shit.
I have had a slight blip last few days, may be building moon, Halloween bad vibery….. I don’t know, but I can tell it’s just that, a blip.
Whichever you are feeling right now - slightly wobbly, in your full power zone or totally down in the dirt, I hope these poems strengthen your spirit. I hope you feel the power I was channeling as I wrote them.
Too Much
.
Your light will be too much for some
Shows demons in plain sight
Bad energies will fear and flee
When love shows all its might
But glitter, bright, before their eyes
Go shine that little more
Have it reveal all that they are
What they once were before
Paint questions bold in gold and red
The world is but a canvas
Illuminate and fascinate
Leave smile ‘full stops’ with answers
.
Your dark will be too much for some
But needs attention too
Without the night, there’d be no sleep
To grow a stronger you
And torment can be frightening
Each tunnel without end
Sorrow’s not a dish to share
With fair or fickle friends
Take your time, recuperate
It’s but a passing storm
Have faith that in your coldest night
Your heart will keep you warm
.
And those who love you, dark and light
There for both rise and fall
Are diamonds made to cling to, tight
The very best of all.
Mum
Right then, MUM,
I’m here to listen, MUM
Want to hear your side of things, MUM
Take your time, MUM
Want you to feel you’ve said all you want to, so you go away feeling heard, MUM
Is there anything else you’d like to say, MUM?
So…..
I said everything I wanted to say.
How I did!
Because, I always do, invited or not.
But not as MUM.
No.
Not as she who kisses goodnight
Lays out school clothes
Makes packed lunches
Patches up grazed knees
Clears up sick
Wipes away tears
Because that’s MUM.
And YOU, PAL
Don’t get HER
YOU are talking to the kickass woman who exists alongside her, PAL
MUM is a title only ONE person in the whole wide world is entitled to use, PAL
And it ain’t you, PAL
Got it, PAL?
Good, PAL
I am a Queen in Residence
I am a Queen in residence
A residence of radiance
No government nor governance
Will strip my heart of confidence
Reflecting love makes perfect sense
The ultimate intelligence
Each smile must make a difference
We craft our own significance
So rather than sit on the fence
Slaves captive by obedience
Please rise with me, as Kings and Queens
Take residence in your radiance!
I think we do feel a bit wobbly as the seasons change, the moon, the clocks going back and forth. I think we may be sensitive to these things.
Great poems. I really got the "Mum" one. A pet hate of mine when people are addressed by a role. And "feeling heard". Ahhhhgh! What about "having been listened to?".
Thanks Julie. The things you write are often universal and so they make the reader feel that they are not alone.
These poems were absolutely breathtaking. I loved the way you constructed the poems and the way you spoke in them. Not to mention I love the photographs, they go with the poems really well.
