I can't believe I've not got round to part 2 until now! Anyway, well worth the effort Julie. Wild camping (and wild weeing for that matter) is making it's way onto my bucket list. Onto part 3 soon. Nice work, Julie! x
It wasn’t a ‘campsite’ as such. I just went somewhere random up in the fells. No facilities. Yeah- I wouldn’t take pyjamas again. Too much to carry. Rookie error 😂
I didn't mean an official designated camp site. I should have said "the place you camped." Camping "somewhere random" is the best way, if you can get away with it!
Beautiful countryside ... and words of course! Was also a lovely surprise to hear your voice in the video of your camp site. I wonder if you have ever considered doing audio or video of some of your poetry and prose? Its one thing to read and appreciate but i think it would add a really nice dimension and you have a really soft, feminine almost innocent voice.
Thank you very much, Martin. The last couple of poetry posts I put up here, I did an audio with actually. I think it works with the shorter posts at the moment but the longer the posts after I’ve read a while, I find myself stumbling over my words a bit!
Oh i must have missed those poetry post. That's exactly the posts i was thinking ... the poetry ones with varied topics and mood. To hear how you recite and not just my reading. I will have a look, thank you!
Ah yes i guess you wouldn't be the only one having a stumble with longer posts and i notice "influencers' often stitch there short take sentences together in video for that reason which makes sense.
Yes before that I don’t think I did any for a while. One day I heard AI reading my stuff out because I didn’t realise Substack automatically does that on the app if you don’t do it yourself, and it was a bit of a motivating force to record some of my own!😂
I know people frown when I say I've had enough camping... because everyone should have some, in order to appreciate the indoor appliances and bug free bedtime...
Just one sample to share... camping without tent- just sleeping bag- near Maroon Bells in Colorado 🤠
It is over in seconds… It doesn’t look like my preconceived ideas of shooting stars. It does not arc gracefully, it twists and tails like an unruly space kite attempting to defy the strings of time.
I started reading that thinking, ‘Are you sure it wasn’t a satellite?’ But to be honest, it doesn’t sound like that either.
Brilliant, l am giggling at the sheer joy of it, the accomplishment. I gotta ask, how was the wind in the night, not a lot of shelter there … but hey, the view 💚😊🙏⛺️
Thank you. I purposely chose a 4 season tent and watched YouTubers review it in an exposed place. That said, it was a mild night. A little breeze but nothing too crazy.
Great photos Julie, sounds like a wonderful adventure. I don't think I'd be brave enough to wild camp alone, I doubt I'd sleep!
Who knows what we can achieve until we try, eh? :)

Cheers. Yeah, want to do another now but want to get the kit weight down a bit first. Absolutely give it a whirl
The campsite you chose looks beautiful. Your tent is an excellent one!
I never slept well while camping. The fact that you can will make all your camping adventures that much nicer.
"...the stars are singing silver to the galaxy" is the loveliest phrase I'm likely to read today.
The fact you took pyjamas on a backpacking trip is so cute.

Sounds idyllic, once you got there 😊 I did smile at the earplugs, in the middle of a moor 🤭
I could hear distant sheep though. Noisy fuckers 😂
I love the idea of singing Fernando.
It was what came to mind as I sat there looking at the stars. “There was something in the air that night, the stars were bright…..”

The one I did called ‘A Bee on Lavender’ a couple of weeks ago. Tried to attach it but for a message saying I can’t.
Yes I imagine there is probably a lot more assistive tech around these days to piece things together.
Oh yes i have just listened to them as far back as White Noise. Seriously your voice is really amazing.
Bless you, Martin :)

Probably can't find it now...but had a couple photos of chipmunks enjoying a marshmallow 🤗
There were big birds and the rumors of bears and cats and deer- don't recall seeing anything dangerous though.

Don’t think I’d dare with the sorts of creatures you guys have over there! Not without a tent
Wow! I lived this with you! I even know the theme tune! Great writing Julie. 🙌🌟✨
I could write travel all day long. It’s my passion. Thank you :)
You should! It’s brilliant 🤩
Fabulous. Good for you. Solitude can be regenerating.
Absolutely was!
Beautiful scenery. Thank you for sharing, Julie!
A shooting star.

Must have been something in the water…
Maybe the greys are finally coming. I do hope so 🤷♀️😂😂
Satelles tend to shine and track slowly across the sky until they are nearly overhead, they then race until slowly tracking away from you then fade.
No idea what it was if I’m honest. I don’t think I’ve seen one before though, whatever it was.
Definitely a meteor.

I shall have a look, thanks
Awesome! Not sure I’d be able to get much sleep though. 👏💚
I think the key is tiring yourself out😂😂
Thank you 🙂
Glad you appreciate it
Loving this Julie 😍 The views are amazing. I think my imagination in the night would run wild but I also imagine it feels really invigorating. 💫
Oh it was fab. Empowering. Just got to master those night settings on the phone next time and I’m sorted!x

As long as you are secure, and can sleep through it, the wind can be fun 😊⛺️. All power to you Julie, what beautiful country. Thanks for the pics too
I shall post more in next few days. Took heaps of em.
🙏😊💖🌸
