Nature poetry
A few poems I’ve written recently, inspired by the beautiful world we live in. Poems are all I have for you right now. School holidays….’nuff said….
Nature both soothes and beguiles. I get lost in the imagery evoked, messages I read from it and endless sensory pleasures it unleashes. In these days when everything is increasing in price, the things we can take joy in for free become ever more valuable.
Green Empress
Clouds sat as fluffed up granny perms on sturdy necks of green
Blue licking as a summer pup at sunshine in between
Rose light bowled blushing apples onto aprons made of jade
Fields sprawled as flattened tennis balls in jugs of lemonade
The ample arms of Earth, plant woken wonder as a sapling
Rooted in her calm, my eyes devour yolk yonder, dappling
I’m lulled to nap in nature’s lap, her dozy folds of old
Fence stitches seam her bodice as she heaves her dough of gold
Houses skirt her emerald, pigeons gem-hem every street
I’m mother-child, needling this wild - the tapestry complete
Candelabra
The candelabra on nature’s table is beauty to behold.
Amidst the cornflower of the sky, sit shades of green and gold.
Stonewall piano keys play moorland symphonies.
I walk the ancient paths engraved with Earth’s lost memories.
Season’s Wheels
The sun wore in September
Like a child, clumsy in heels
The awkward of surrender
Season switch of summer reels
Fruit squishes as poked tantrums
The spill will lure the flies
Wounds, stark price of autumn
Blood let before demise
Splats blot the panting pavements
Lines are blurred with berry bruise
Remember hours avoiding cracks?
A game we’d always lose
There’s no welcome mat for Winter
No fawning ‘home sweet home’
Barefoot we meet the splinter
Of a journey made alone
Reins of Moor
On reins of moor I ground my mood
Commit my tears to breeze
Thinning air carries my cares
To hums of bumble bees
The heather sprigs are purple wigs
On heads of withered bleak
Sundown will mourn each wasted dawn
I didn’t reach my peak

Sat here googling whether symphonies can include piano (2nd poem Candelabra). I don’t think it can. Whatevs. Artistic license and all that.😂😂
