It just struck me I should put links on here to the tracks I mention. If I was techie enough I would actually make it so you could click on the song title on the article but Iβm not, so thereπ Enjoy π
Need to make more effort to discover more Jazz, just listened to and appreciated the tracks you linked π΅ Music has that rare ability to truly touch our heart and soul. The intensity of emotions, self reflection and deep thinking in this piece all resonated with me. Stunning π€
I love this one. Peak pathos. I can relate to the dark humour aspect. My faves are Sarah Vaughanβs Lullaby of Birdland and Harry Connick Jr doing Nightingale sang in Berkeley Square - there is such deep longing conveyed but served up with a layer of schmaltz that encourages you not to take yourself too seriously.
Yes I know both songs although probably just familiar with Bobby Darrinβs version of the latter. I like Connick Jr though so should check it out.
I do like dark music for this sort of reason as you say, it can be so dark that often you are jollied out of it by its own mocking brooding. For me The Smiths are a great example of that kind of thing.
Yes! There is actually quite a lot of schmaltz going on with the Smiths. Marrβs Jazz chords and syncopation and Morrisseyβs Wildean sense of foppery. They put the fun into being miserable.
Awesome stack! Will have a go at turning this into a jazz drawl song by the weekend, feel free to dislike it! Will put on truthsocial.com ooh lala πΆπ€π€
Yes the mood of this poem is half real half tongue in cheek when you laugh at your own self pity cause youβre that bleak but yeahβ¦.you hear meπx

Thanks Nat. Yes Jazz has its place. That said, Iβve just been at the gym banging on the 90βs dance tunes.π
