It started with a grift.
Sunday morning.
I’m lying here sipping my cup of tea and there she is - some woman with dreads in my inbox. Terence Trent D’Arby meets Mother Christmas.
She’s liked loads of my posts, she’s surrounded by incense and she’s wearing crochet. Ahh! *warm glow*.
I feel a little sad and lonely, so when she says “can I have a few minutes of your time?”, I let her ramble at me. Her words soothe me like a puppy licking my knee.
She tells me I ‘notice numbers’, the pull of the moon and water.
Yeah ….. I do, don’t I?
The more it unfolds, the more script-like it sounds.
My ancestors and guardian angels want to guide me.
I’m a light, there’s envious, negative energy around me - she could let me know where it’s coming from - if I let her perform a reading for me….
And that’s when it ended for me.
Block.
My little self indulgence trip was over.
I’m not as green as she was cabbage looking, thankfully, and I know a grift when I see one.
I’d known it a minute in but had just kept her going because - let’s face it, it’s flattering when someone says nice things to you, isn’t it?
For a few minutes I enjoyed the feeling that I was indeed a ‘divine light’, that if it wasn’t for all those bastards casting their shadow, I’d be ruling the fucking world.
Everyone wants to feel special, don’t they? Like their life has meaning and purpose.
Like they’re not just here to take the bin out and do the dishes.
Well, you’re not!
And neither am I!
BUT
If you’re not achieving all you could be, it’s not the fault of others blocking your path.
It’s down to you.
That’s the cold, hard truth.
I struggle with this myself.
I have my obstacles but they are mine to overcome. I can’t change all of them but I do have the power to change how I conceive of them.
That’s not to suggest that all that’s wrong with your life is your fault, it’s not. Clearly, some get dealt a better hand than others.
But it is up to us as individuals to pay attention to the stories we tell ourselves, be mindful of the language we use.
I’m sick of these new age grifts.
Everyone’s a fucking healer aren’t they?
They do a one day course at Barry Potter’s online school of gimmickry, grab a rose quartz and all of a sudden they’re an ‘expert’.
Go with your intuition, always.
I do believe there are genuine people with true gifts out there, but please remember that flattery is the easiest way of persuading people to part with money!
Where there is vulnerability there is opportunity.
We all feel alone in the desert sometimes, riding along looking for that oasis…..
But sadly the desert is exactly where you find the cowboys.
Well, here’s some advice - for free.
It isn’t laced with shaman piss and it doesn’t smell of smudged sage - but it doesn’t reek of horse crap either.
Get your shit together.
Pull your socks up.
Do better.
Oh shit, I can see I’m not going to get round you. Oh well, back to the drawing board. 😂
Seriously though, those who deceive for material gain at the emotional expense of others are particularly vile.
Haha, you are a veritable wordsmith, shaman piss indeed, hilarious 🤣
