2024
We can take stock.
The highs, the lows, the ‘told you so’s.
Or we can MAKE STOCK.
Pay attention to our essence.
The bare bones of our character.
Because unless we get the basics right, whatever we add to life’s rich stew won’t work.
All the seasoning in the world won’t nourish a hungry soul.
We live in strange times.
Social media is not what it purports to be.
It’s time to rethink it.
If someone told us a boot was a hat, would we continue to wear it as a hat or see for ourselves that it is indeed a boot and acknowledge its true function?
What I am getting at here, is we are told social media is a vehicle for keeping in touch or voicing opinions, yet our direct experience contradicts that. People we know are banned and shadow banned whilst those with bought status are actively promoted. Limits on ‘reach’ and monetisation have made pecking orders of both opinion and fact. More and more our feeds are crammed with pages and groups we don’t follow. Those with agendas to push and things to sell instead of the ordinary people we joined to connect with.
Manipulation has moved beyond the obvious. Most people have long since abandoned MSM as a means of consuming news or political content, but nefarious forces have been quick to dominate and infiltrate replacement sources.
We must remain nomadic in spirit. Moving with good energy and sensing when a place is no longer safe to stay. When good milk has soured.
Assuming what is in our interest will turn up in our feed is like standing on Blackpool beach and waiting for pink dolphins and angel fish.
Divisive political garbage, false prophets, harmful ideologies and those concerned only with greed mean we frequently find ourselves drowning in a sea of content sewage.
Instead, we must actively ‘swim’ to what lights and interests us. Look up and prioritise those we trust, actively seek out those we care for and haven’t heard from in a while. Reject what no longer serves us. Question what does not ‘feel’ right.
Not everyone is meant to move with us. And darkness suits some people. It’s a comfortable cloak that hides many flaws after all.
But light and truth must be the aim.
Learn and discern
Review and refine
Let go and grow
Most of us call it 2025
But right now, we get to name it whatever we like.
Call it something beautiful.
Then love and nurture it.
It’s time’s new baby.
“Not everyone is meant to move with us. And darkness suits some people. It’s a comfortable cloak that hides many flaws after all.”
And that’s the darkness trap. Too much dwelling on others’ darkness produces darkness in ourselves. Better to contemplate excellence.
Happy New Year Julie and all your followers. 2025 feels like a great year for humanity 🙌🎉🥳
