Beware of the cult of ‘My People’
Beware of the ‘My People’ crowd .
There is no ‘My People ’…..only people.
They will funnel you in, down hateful lanes of ‘Them and Us’.
There are things I may disagree with you about.
There are people I may get along with better because our views align.
Conversely, I may want to hang out with you because I find the sandpaper of your difference compelling and I like the rub we make.
But once we talk about ‘My People’, we close our hearts and minds to doing better as a species.
The thing about ‘My People’, is that ‘terms and conditions apply’.
You are always one wrong step away from NOT being ‘My People ’
I am my own person.
I belong to no-one.
And above all that
I stand with you, human.
I put this on Facebook and people seemed to like it so thought I’d stick it here too.
Funny, someone called it a poem and I wouldn’t really think of it as such.
I said “it’s your Private Dancer” mate, whatever you want it to be😂😂
