Hello everyone. I’ve been on my holiday. I travel back from Scotland in a few hours time.
I was with my son 24/7 so haven’t posted anything as I wanted to both savour the experience and give him my full attention. I have made notes about my trip which I will probably write up as I get a little more time to myself this week.
In the meantime, have these two poems I wrote this morning as he sleeps.
Ladybird day
I knew a day, a ladybird
Curved, beautiful and bright
Shiny hours that jammed my skin
With lacquered scarlet flight
I watched in awe as luck was mine,
Crawling briefly on my hand
Finally, she flew away
Who knows where she will land
The cloud library
The Cloud library is open,
For those who read the sky
Your favourite type of heaven
Will eventually pass by
As bluebirds bathe in milky swathe
Rain lurks in rounded grey
Silver pregnant bellies burst
To quench the thirsty day
Rainbows quiver blissful scarves
Through gaps of brooding blue
Lemon twists and Scottish mists
Funnel building mood as brew
Lightning bites dark ink
As thunder adds imposing sound
All this, and many spend their lives
With eyes fixed to the ground

I did try to post this little video (below) for the solstice so you could see just how gorgeous it was where I was staying but it was so remote the internet didn’t work (so worth the sacrifice of rubbish internet though) so I may as well post it now. Obviously the solstice I refer to in the video, has been and gone but you can still see how pretty it was.
Incredible scenery, thanks for sharing. Beautiful poems also.
Happy you had a great time. I’m half Scottish and spent a lot of my Childhood up there. I also went on Holiday there two years ago. It’s a lovely country.
