Banana Bread

- A metaphor for a second chance at life

Bananas…..

I was making ‘Banana bread’ (why is it bread and not cake? Jaffa cake syndrome, huh?) not so long ago, and it dawned on me, it was the perfect metaphor for taking another shot at achieving your dreams.

We wait for the *right moment* for bananas…. as so often with life.

One minute they’re *green* - it’s too early.  Something is still becoming. We keep looking over……will they ever ripen? When is it ‘time’?

Then, one day, we look over at the ‘bananas’ - aka our dreams - and they’re black, the moment has gone, passed us by…….

Damn!

Missed it!

You scold yourself for taking your eye off the ball, failing to notice *the right time*.

Why didn’t you reach out and taste it whilst it was there? Peak……

BUT

What if……..

• Beneath the black you see, is something sweet waiting to be worked with?

What if……

• It may take a little longer, you’re gonna have to get creative, add spice, elbow grease……and yeah….eggs will be broken, it could get messy…..

BUT

What If…….

• You can still create something wonderful?

• Whilst opportunities have passed, time has increased the probability of another unexplored, delicious alchemy taking place?

And…..

What if, it just so happens that you end up enjoying and appreciating something you’ve worked at and waited for, way, way more?

Remember……

Dreams don’t expire. However, confidence and motivation can sometimes take a bashing. As with bananas, the human ego bruises.

You’ve read about the numerous people enjoying and achieving wonderful things later in life - be it falling in love, having a successful career, travelling, writing a book, taking up a new pursuit, creating a project to help others….

Consider your black. Your untapped powerhouse…..

Are you going to simply let it rot, go to waste?

Sometimes, it takes a little imagination.

But what if it was meant to happen this way, ideas meant to ripen?

What if you’re packed with latent energy?

What does ‘past its use by date’ actually mean, anyway?

Hmm….It means, ‘for one particular outcome’ doesn’t it?

And there are several!

So, go ahead.

Turn your black into magic.

PS: This doesn’t work with avocados. An avocado is NOT a great metaphor for life.  Sometimes things are really fucked and there is no going back.😂😉
