Yes, that’s what I was trying to do - weave the journey of the bee with our own human endeavours and trials.

I love this one. Julie, you should publish a poetry book. I have Deb Hewitt’s, Trudi Nicola’s, and Francesca Bossert’s and I reach for them often to roll in a bit of magic.

Without these pollinators we just might not be here. So, sing their praise!

Lovely craft, your words. And as a lifelong professional presenter as you Brits say, let me say your reading is perfect. Your pitch and meter match the heart of the poem. You're a natural.

Thank you so much Dave, this made me smile.

Such lovely understanding of life, ❤️

Thank you. Sometimes you notice the parallels the natural world shares with your own.

Yes, I observe all from a distance, and you can see the vagaries of perception, that people have, it's not what they say that matters, it's what they won't say, you can read them. Nature is the ultimate truth.

I loved this, Julie. It felt like someone quietly taking my shoulders and reminding me to unclench. 😁 "She cared not where the nectar went / The moment, hers alone" has been rattling around in my head ever since I read it. Thank you for sharing both the poem and the story behind it. It arrived at exactly the right moment. 🐝 🪻

Thanks I was relating to that bee massively. Wishing I could detach and be in the moment as she could😂

This is lovely. And yesterday I just happened to see the biggest bumblebee I’ve ever seen in my life. I had to take a couple minutes for a timeout to enjoy.

They can be huge can’t they? Thanks

Julie, it is amazing what comes to us in those quiet moments - when we are not trying so hard to weave our craft, the universe rewards us with little gems. Also, glad you are diving into doing your own audio. I find that hearing the work in the author's voice, with their intended inflections and such really enhance the work.

Julie Dee's avatar

Thank your for your encouragement, Martin. I completely agree with you - the best poems write themself, water needs to push to flow, it simply does. As for the audio, I am okay if it’s a small piece. I would find doing something long very difficult. How these audio book narratives must get on…:oh my goodness!

Martin Maenza's avatar

Yes, I get you about doing audio. I pushed back against it for my story chapters because I felt “I can’t possibly do this”. Turns out, after a little bit of trial and error - I could. Are they perfect? Nope. Could I have spent more time on them to make them better. Absolutely. I give it one try and hope for the best. Before I knew it, I had recorded a full thirty minutes (when I recorded “Post-Nut Clarity”) and I had fun doing it to boot. I know it helps some folks process my stories better, so if that helps get more eyes/ears on them - I’ll keep on recording them.

Love the voice option ! :)

Julie Dee's avatar

I found out that in the app, if you don’t record your own, it automatically adds another one - a robot! I won’t read all my articles as I know I’ll stumble on my words if I tried , but certainly I’d rather hear a poem in my own voice than that of a robot.

Rachel Mardle's avatar

Absolutely, your voice is lovely! I’d prefer it to an AI one any day x
